a touch of tweed

I decided to wear this outfit for a country walk we had today. We are lucky to live around the corner from fields that stretch for miles. This tweed riding jacket is ideal for cold days like this and I wear it during more than one season so it is very versatile too. Today I wore it with a pretty paisley blouse and my well worn riding boots; they are soooo comfortable. They were a really good buy as I have had them a couple of years and they still have loads of life left in them!

Found the horse, just need my jodphurs now.  As you can see the horse was desperately trying to get our attention (I think it thought we had food). Promised the horse I would take it some carrots next time!

The church you can see in the background is in the village we live in, it was built in 1869 and is very quaint and cute. It makes for a lovely picture especially when it snows. I love the bustle that is on the back of my jacket, I think this is a lovely feature making it stand out.

What do you wear tweed jackets with?

goodbye jubilee hello olympics

I bought this outfit for the Queens Diamond Jubilee celebrations. I saw this in a shop window and thought I would pop in, a couple of days later, and try it on. It was perfect for what I wanted. But, as you might guess, every single one had gone apart from the one in the window; obviously everyone had the same idea. There were none left anywhere in the area or online. I didn't have a Plan B of what to wear at the party.
About a week later I just happened to be passing the store again and something made me go in. There it was - at the back of the counter! Someone had just brought it back. I went straight to the changing rooms with it and it felt like it was made for me. Fate!

Although the Jubilee celebrations have been and gone, it will soon be the London Olympics! The Olympic torch relay will be passing our door in a few days. The whole village is planning activities to mark the occasion. So, the dress will be coming out again for the street party.

working the wardrobe

I'm so glad pastel tones are still being worn as I have got a few things in my wardrobe that I didn't get to wear last year (thanks to the weather).
One of my resolutions this year was to be more of a tourist in my local area. It's amazing what you can find on your doorstep that you barely knew existed.

As you can see, it was a really windy day!

We ate lunch in this really quiet and quaint village that is over a thousand years old. Can you believe, the ruins of Thorpe Salvin Old Hall are practically in someone's back garden!

I am wearing:
Jacket and bag - Primark
Jeans - Republic

Scarf and watch - River Island.
