small sighs

It's been a long time since I last wrote a small sighs post, too long in fact. I've missed noting all the things I've enjoyed through the week. For now, until I get back into the swing of things, I will post a small sighs every two weeks and share with you what I've been up to.

Here are some of the things I've enjoyed recently:

homemade lamb tagine

a walk alongside leeds canal

weekend details

homemade damson gin ready to drink (shame I'm taking part in dry january)

a little flurry of snow in our garden

Have a great weekend lovelies.

small sighs

Halfway through the year already! Where have the past few months disappeared to? I have to say though that I am looking forward to the summer months, with warmer weather, lighter nights and of course, getting married.

I am determined to make the most of this summer and that is why I have started my '90 days of summer' series. I don't want to look back in Autumn and think to myself 'where has summer disappeared to?' It's all about enjoying the little things.

This weekend is all about my birthday. It's not my birthday until Monday but we are going to have pre-celebrations, taking advantage of our days off work. We will be having a day at the beach and a family bike ride and picnic, weather permitting!

Here is what I've been enjoying this week:

Cocktails for two

Beautifully scented lilac

 Pastel coloured coffee cups

 Tea and wedding planning

Our picnic view inside Lincoln Castle

Have a great weekend lovelies.

small sighs

What a mix of sunshine and showers we have had this week. I've been alternating between my wellies, boots and sandals. It's a nightmare to know what to wear! In between rain showers, we have tried to get out for evening walks, taking in the glorious views we have around us.

Next week I am on holiday from work so I'm just hoping the weather gets better. I'm looking forward to lazy breakfasts in bed, cooking lovely meals for friends and family and maybe a cocktail or two.

Here is what I've been enjoying this week:

A new pair of shoes to add to my collection

Burt's Bees lip balm and foot cream

Trifle made with apricots, oranges and Greek yoghurt

Flowers from a friend

 Tea with Audrey

Have a great weekend lovelies.

small sighs

It seems like the past few weeks have been a series of groundhog days.  Work, bed, work, bed. The days seem to pass by in a blur. But on Wednesday evening, as it was such a lovely evening, we made a point of going straight out after work instead of falling like heaps onto the sofa.

I am so glad we did. We drove to a country pub, sat outside with a meal and a glass of wine and took in our beautiful surroundings. Afterwards, we had a little walk and came home feeling thoroughly relaxed.

It's so easy to get into a routine of coming home to get ready for the next day, make dinner and fall asleep on the sofa. But going straight out made us realise how important it is to take time out to 'live the little things'.

Here is what I've been enjoying this week:

grilled halloumi and salad savoury croissant

a jug full of sunshine

popcorn and a classic

the last of the magnolia blossom

 coffee table reading

Have a great weekend lovelies.

small sighs

This week has been a very busy and tiring one so I was very happy to say hello to the weekend! We don't have many plans for this weekend except maybe an out to a bluebell wood if the weather permits. I am quite happy to spend time recharging my batteries and pottering around the house and garden. I'm such a party animal!

Here is what I've been enjoying this week:

Date night amaretto and vanilla trifle

Bluebells growing in our garden

My new Cath Kidston mugs

 Saturday favourites

My favourite purchase of the year so far

Enjoy the rest of the weekend lovelies.

This has been a week of spending quality time with family and catching up with old friends. A week well spent! Good food, good wine and good company, who needs more!

I'm looking forward to a three day weekend. We are planning to get out in the garden, do a bit of dress shopping and go for a picnic. Let's hope the sun keeps shining.

Here is what I've been enjoying this week:

The last of the blossom in the garden

My first wedding make up purchase

small sighs

My small sighs post is a little round up of some of the things I've seen, done and eaten over the past week.

I'm still off on holiday this week and we've been lucky enough to have had some glorious weather. So I have been on some jollies and got out in the garden to make the most of it.

I do love this time of year when the garden starts to come to life again. I find pottering in the garden very relaxing. Fingers crossed this weather is here to stay.

Here is what I've been enjoying this week:

My first lunch outside in the garden.

A favourite spot of mine in Leeds with great design and funky vintage shops.

Upcycling an old bench that was being thrown out.

Chips and chocolate beer.

Love the architecture of this building. It really caught my eye.

Have a fabulous weekend lovelies.

small sighs

Yesterday marked the first day of the six weeks holiday and to celebrate I broke open a bottle of champers. No better way to mark the occasion! I have lots planned but the most important thing of all to me is having the time to enjoy the little things.

This week I have been loving:

a bargain buy from Zara

eating cream cake

a lazy breakfast in bed

drinking lots of ice cold water

We are off on a little road trip to Dorset so I will be back with you a week on Monday. I'm really looking forward to long walks on the beach, listening to the sound of the sea and seeing all the beauty Dorset has to offer.

Have a fabulous weekend lovelies.
