snow day

Look what I found! I was looking through some pics and I came across these. What fun we had in the snow! A few weeks ago we made a visit to Saltaire; definitely on our top ten places list to visit. I posted here about a visit we had last year. Hope you enjoy them!

I invested in a warm jumper and a coat for this trip and I am so glad I did. Good old Topshop!

Taking a walk through the park and along the canal; I love my faithful Hunter wellies! No amount of snow can stop me now! I had to feel sorry for the ducks; they didn't have much room to swim on the frozen canal!

I turn into an overgrown child in the snow; as you can see here. Fresh footprints in the snow and twirling round a lamp post pretending I am in Narnia! We both thought that the picture of the ice melting looked like a man!

Do you enjoy the snow just as much as me?

mango delight

Introducing my new Mango coat! This little beauty was an online bargain find; I jumped for joy when it was delivered! (I know, far too excitable!) I am planning on wearing it different ways but today I chose to wear it with my new H&M dress. When I saw it in the shop I thought to myself 'perfect to wear with my new coat.'

It was a bright but extremely cold day walking by the canal. A scarf and gloves wouldn't have gone amiss!

I hope these photos show off to you what a stunning place the Corn Exchange building is in Leeds. Quaint and kooky with the sweetest little boutique shops. My favourites would have to be Mad Elizabeth, Candy Candy and Alice Found Treasure. A great place to chill and people watch with coffee and cake.

I fell in love with this dress when I saw the Peter Pan collar. The fact it is maroon helps too; I am so into this colour right now! The brogues were an E-Bay buy, brand new from the Schuh outlet shop.

green day

A lovely day for wearing my Zara blazer, cold but beautifully sunny! I paired it with a blue and cream striped blouse and my darling Topshop jeans. I felt I needed a scarf to add a splash of colour so I had a hunt through my scarf drawer and I found this at the back. I had forgotten all about it; ideal, and with a picture of the Eiffel Tower!

The orange in the scarf is a perfect match for the bag, it has a detachable strap and I have to say I prefer using it more as a clutch.

We decided on a visit to the Botanical Gardens today, a lovely place to chill and relax all year round. I'm looking forward to the summer when we can lay out on the grass with a picnic, reading and watching the world go by. Around the corner from the park is a deli shop which make the most delicious sandwiches and melts. I am determined to have a go at recreating my own at home (watch this space!)

Lace love

Another day, another lace dress! As you will have seen in earlier posts, I have a real love of lace. Half of my wardrobe consists of different varieties of lace dresses. S will say to me 'haven't you got one like that already?' and my answer will always be 'this one is slightly different' (length, sleeves, colour etc.) I always tend to dress up my lace but I thought I would try something different today.

This is a jacket that I normally wear during the spring and summer season, but as it was such a lovely day I thought 'hey, why not!'

Say hello to my new Ted Baker bag! This was my gorgeous Valentine's Day present from S. I had been drooling over it in the shop thinking 'one day you will be mine.' What a lovely surprise it was when I opened up my present and there in all its glory was my lust love! This bag and I will never be parted!

Have you any other ideas how to wear lace?

romantic meal for two

This was my table setting for a romantic meal for two that S and myself had on Valentines Day. I love the French shabby chic look so I tried to recreate it for the evening. Prosecco adds the finishing touch! Can you tell how much I love the colour pink?

Smoked salmon with prawns, horseradish cream and lime vinaigrette.
What a delicious and stunning starter! An easy twenty minutes of preparation and voila! The flavours all work so well together; a real taste of heaven! A real dinner party pleaser! The beauty of this recipe is you can make it in advance. I will definitely be making this for a meal with friends.

Stuffed chicken breast wrapped in pancetta

Another dinner party special! Simple and easy to prepare, this dish had a real wow factor! I didn't expect this to be as good as it was with it being so simple to make, but I was sooooo wrong! Melt in the mouth food!

Raspberry and rose trifles
A perfect Valentines Day dessert. Talk about save the best till last! Now I do like a good dessert but there are no words to describe how divine this trifle was. How many different words are there for delicious! Cointreau or raspberry liqueur can be used for a different twist too. Looking at the picture is really starting to make my mouth water!

valentines day outfit

6 H&M 200 den tights - £6.99

My perfect Valentines Day outfit had to be a red dress. When I spotted this on line I fell head over heels in love!!! I hope you all have a lovely day however you choose to spend it. This year we are planning a quiet  evening in for two with food, wine and a cheesy romantic movie.

How will you be spending Valentines Day this year?

small sighs

My favourite handbag at the moment! My girl G bought it for me as a gift, I absolutely love the colour. Looking forward to trying it out with my spring outfits.

Loving my style and wellness Moleskine journals; I am determined to collect them all! They are soooo touchy feely and pretty too. The wardrobe organiser inside the style journal is really useful, its where I note which items I have and which season to wear them in.
It goes without saying how fantastic the new book by Scott Schuman is! I was sooo in love with the first one and I was lucky enough to get this one for a gift. I use it for style ideas; piecing together items I already own and putting together outfits. A brilliant coffee table read.
This favourite things box was a gift from S, it is a place where I keep items that are special to me and remind me of good times. I keep old concert tickets in there, postcards and photos from places we have visited, cards that S and I have sent to each other and keepsakes from family.
The brooch was from my lovely Grandma; I can remember her wearing it when I was little. I used to admire how much it sparkled; it has pride of place in my box as you can imagine.
What are some of your favourite things?

happy pancake day

This is the best tasting banoffee pancake I have ever made. Piled with warm toffee sauce and whipped cream; not a lot better than that! Gorgeous and very filling!

Don't think I will be waiting until next year to make these again!

What did you have with your pancakes today?

Cozy cable knit

I fell in love with this cable knit jumper as soon as I saw it. I have been looking around the shops and online but I couldn't find the one I wanted. Then low and behold I went into the menswear department in H&M and saw this and bought it straightaway. It fits really well and is like a big comfort blanket on a day when I was feeling under the weather (as you can tell from the pale colour of my skin)!

The fossil like sculpture that I am stood by stands about eighteen feet high. The idea was created by fusing local Industrial Machinery with Natural Fossil forms found in the surrounding area. It now stands as a permanent landmark within the village. At night it has green and blue fibre optic lights that make it look really funky!

Here are my accessories that I wore to finish my outfit off. I am a big lover of brogues and have quite a few pairs. I find it very hard to walk away from a pair when I see them in the shops!

around my home

A lovely, cosy corner of my dining room. I was very pleased with myself when I came across this side table. The colour is very Farrow & Ball french grey and just what I was after to fill this corner of the room. It could also be used as a bed side table too.

I keep candles in the drawer for my nights by the wood burner and my favourite music discs in the basket. The photo frame was a present from S. I put a card S gave me for my birthday inside it. A friend asked me once if the picture was of my girls which I thought was quite sweet as I think it is really pretty. I keep myself surrounded by flowers as they have a real feelgood factor for me.

What is a feelgood factor for you?

ten top valentine movies

Well, it's not long until one of my favourite days of the year! I have to say I am definitely one of those people who love it! The shops are full of hearts and balloons and pretty cards that I stand and look at for ages. I'm such a romantic! I apologise for gushing but I do tend to get swept away by it!

This year we have decided to have a romantic night in, S is going to cook a lovely meal with wine, music and candles. With this in mind I started to think of which movie we could maybe watch afterwards and I didn't realise how many movies I actually love!

So here is my ten top list of romantic movies for Valentine's day. I can easily sit through these films over and over and never get bored. I can definitely see one of these being put on during the evening. It's a good job that S enjoys these movies just as much as me!

Choosing my favourite from the list is quite hard because they are all soooo good, but I think it will a choice between Roman Holiday (as I adore Audrey Hepburn and it reminds me of when we were in Rome), or Chocolat (gotta love Johnny Depp). Which movies would you recommend for Valentine's day?
