mango delight

Introducing my new Mango coat! This little beauty was an online bargain find; I jumped for joy when it was delivered! (I know, far too excitable!) I am planning on wearing it different ways but today I chose to wear it with my new H&M dress. When I saw it in the shop I thought to myself 'perfect to wear with my new coat.'

It was a bright but extremely cold day walking by the canal. A scarf and gloves wouldn't have gone amiss!

I hope these photos show off to you what a stunning place the Corn Exchange building is in Leeds. Quaint and kooky with the sweetest little boutique shops. My favourites would have to be Mad Elizabeth, Candy Candy and Alice Found Treasure. A great place to chill and people watch with coffee and cake.

I fell in love with this dress when I saw the Peter Pan collar. The fact it is maroon helps too; I am so into this colour right now! The brogues were an E-Bay buy, brand new from the Schuh outlet shop.

What outfits would you wear with this coat?

Coat - Mango
Dress - H&M
Brogues - E-Bay
Handbag - Ted Baker
Tights - H&M
Sunglasses - wardrobe

green day

A lovely day for wearing my Zara blazer, cold but beautifully sunny! I paired it with a blue and cream striped blouse and my darling Topshop jeans. I felt I needed a scarf to add a splash of colour so I had a hunt through my scarf drawer and I found this at the back. I had forgotten all about it; ideal, and with a picture of the Eiffel Tower!

The orange in the scarf is a perfect match for the bag, it has a detachable strap and I have to say I prefer using it more as a clutch.

We decided on a visit to the Botanical Gardens today, a lovely place to chill and relax all year round. I'm looking forward to the summer when we can lay out on the grass with a picnic, reading and watching the world go by. Around the corner from the park is a deli shop which make the most delicious sandwiches and melts. I am determined to have a go at recreating my own at home (watch this space!)

Blazer - Zara (wardrobe)
Blouse - Primark (wardrobe)
Jeans - Topshop (wardrobe)
Scarf - River Island (wardrobe)
Boots - Ebay find (wardrobe)
Handbag - Ebay shop (wardrobe)
Ring - Topshop (wardrobe)

how to make a room cosy

It has to be in front of the fire with my weekly reading and a glass of wine. When it's cold outside this has to be one of my favourite places to be. I have been doing this as often as possible since we renovated this room. There was a gas fire here before and we took it out and knocked through to restore the original fireplace. The bricks for the arch and hearth are all reclaimed so we could make it look more authentic. The finishing touches, which we were lucky enough to get as bargains from E-bay, were this rocking chair, an old pine table with beech chairs and a sideboard. The paint we used for the floorboards and walls were from Farrow & Ball.

My reading for this week is a mixture of second hand books (gotta love Amazon) that I have been wanting for a while. I am looking forward to reading Tony Curtis' autobiography. I love watching his films especially Some Like It Hot, which is a real favourite of mine. He has to be one of the greatest actors ever!

The other two books on my list this week are Nylon Street (love street style) and Anais Nin's A Spy in the House of Love, which a friend has recommended. Lots to keep me occupied on cold nights in front of my woodburner.

How do you spend your evenings?

around my home

This is a corner of my dining room. I don't have a lot of storage space so everything I use has to be pleasing to look at as it is all on display. These shelves were an Ebay find which I just gave a coat of Farrow and Ball Pointing. Most of the things on the shelves were flea market finds. The Cath Kidston plates were a bargain in the sale.
I just collect pretty things to use and don't mind about them matching - I love ecclectic.

red shoes

What is it about red shoes; they are just so irresistible. If I wear a simple black or grey outfit, it is transformed when I put on red shoes. They immediately become a focal point you can't fail to notice. Oddly, the effect is lessened if I use any red accessories so I always keep them plain silver or gold and let the shoes do the talking. If I am having an off day, wearing these always makes me feel more upbeat.
How do you wear yours?
I got these beauties from Ebay again; another match made in heaven. They were such a bargain too. What's a girl to do...?

ebay find

A few months ago I was window shopping in my favourite shoe shop, Schuh. When I spotted these beauties it was love at first sight. When I tried them on I knew we were meant to be together. If only I hadn't bought all those Christmas presents we could have been happy. Parting was such a wrench and barely a day went by when I didn't think of my lost love. Then, like a knight on a white charger, Ebay came to my rescue. Not only did my shoes appear but our union would cost less than half the price. And they were new! Now I can hardly bare to take my Red Or Dead darlings off. They are so comfy. And they all lived.......
