how I wore a zara trench coat

I am so in love with everything Zara but this trench coat has to be my best purchase from there yet. I have been looking for a timeless trench coat with elements of French chic that will pretty much go with everything and take me though the seasons. Classic, versatile and modern.

This was my trench coat's first outing. I wore it for a days shopping in the lovely city of Leeds. It was an incredibly cold day and very windy, as you can probably see from my hair blowing around!

I wore it with a man's oxford shirt and jeans with my Topshop boots and beloved Ted Baker bag.

Zara always impress me with their winter coats. A great selection at such a good price. Have you got any other ideas of how I could wear my trench coat? I'd love to hear from you.

Have a great week lovelies.

bringing style into bloom

At the weekend we took a little trip to explore the lovely Weston Park which just happens to be the first park in Sheffield. It wasn't a very warm day so I thought this floral blouse was perfect with its long sleeves.

It was a blouse I had seen in River Island but didn't buy. I didn't mention I had seen it to Steve but he must know me very well as there it was all nicely wrapped up as part of my birthday present.

It has a great versatility to it; perfect for all the seasons. I chose to wear it today with jeans I got for my birthday and my old faithful brogues.

I apologise for the frizzy hair! Damp air never does it much good!

On a lovely day this would be a perfect place to sit and while away an afternoon with a picnic. Even though it was cold, there were lots of people walking round with ice creams like it was the done thing to do.

You can get married in the bandstand and I can definitely see the appeal. It has a real vintage feel and with good weather it would be magical.

The park has been restored beautifully with gorgeous planting, quiet seating areas and a museum to wander around that is very hands on for children. Definitely a place I want to visit again when it is a bit warmer!

Enjoy the rest of your week lovelies.

on trend jogger trousers for this season

Finally, we are seeing some lovely weather. Can I put my winter boots away at last? Doesn't it just make you feel better when the weather is sunny and warm. We took advantage of this glorious day and spent it at a beautiful garden centre with historic gardens in the grounds of Wentworth house.

I am so in love with these jogger trousers right now. Perfect for dressing up or down. When I first saw them in the shops, I loved them but wasn't sure whether they would suit me or not. However, when I tried them on, I was sold.

Today I chose a black, strappy cami top to wear with them and my denim jacket, which gives a casual feel. I finished my outfit off with some black and gold sandals and a black crossover bag.

The great thing about these trousers is how versatile they are. I have dressed them up with gold heels and a coral top to go out at night in too.

This is a garden centre with added extras! A maze, a deer paddock and a bear pit and it's perfect to visit at any time of the year. It is situated next to a beautiful village and country house which we are coming back soon to explore.

The formal Italian garden and its canal pond have been renovated beautifully. There are so many different types of topiary and herbaceous borders to see.

Do you love these trousers as much as me? What other ways would you wear them?

Enjoy the rest of your week lovelies.

blue and black

Getting a good photo in this light was not easy. One minute it was intense sunlight, the next black clouds. Roll on summer and longer days! So I apologize for not having the best quality shots.

I used to hear lots of talk about whether you should wear blue and black together and for a long time I didn't brave it. But one day I thought 'hey, why not just give it a go' so here I am in my latest addition to the blues in my wardrobe.

How do you feel about wearing blue and black together?

reworking the wardrobe

I have Pinterest to thank for this outfit. I always keep a style inspiration board and collect outfit ideas as I go along. I love to remix items I already have in my wardrobe. I may not have the exact piece but I still might be able to put a similar outfit together.

When I am having one of those days where I stare into the wardrobe and think 'I have nothing to wear', this is when I reach for my Ipad to find some inspiration. I like to layer in the winter so here I have on a t-shirt with a denim shirt and black jacket. I finished the outfit off with my old faithful jeans and a big scarf

Where do you look for inspiration?

how to wear a knitted crew jumper

I am so in love with crew jumpers right now. Perfect for layering in this chilly weather and let me tell you, it was a very cold day! You will be able to see from the photos how windy it was from the way my hair was blowing about!

Can you believe my daughter and fiancee both bought me this same jumper for Christmas but in different lengths! Great minds think alike! I must have mentioned that I liked them on more than one occasion. This is the one my daughter bought me as the shorter one didn't fit as well! I felt bad taking it back but I did manage to get a coat that I had been wanting in the sale with the refunded money, so all is good.

My fiancee bought me this lovely skirt and blouse for Christmas too. I was so happy with his choices, he knows me well! The blouse has such a gorgeous collar, giving the outfit a feminine look.

how to wear polka dots and spots

I am in so love with polka dots and spots right now! The Zara jeans I have had for a while, they are very similar to a pair of Marc Jacobs jeans that were retailing at £110! These were £30; a bargain! I have always wanted a polka dot blouse so I was very happy when I saw this one in Topshop. I think the blouse and jeans work well together. What do you think?

We took these photos in a cute little village not far from where we live. The sun kept trying to come out! We were on our way to a quaint pub for lunch. A great way to spend a Saturday!

a tourist in my town - part two

Thanks for joining me for part two of our tour around town. The photos above are of our little lunch break. Coco's is a lovely tapas bar and bistro, a great place to stop for a bite to eat. The cheese and pancetta burgers were divine, washed down with a glass of wine!

I love the seating outside, it reminds me of holidays in Greece.

St Mary's church is also known as 'the crooked spire.' This is what our town is most famous for and it draws people to visit. It was built in the late 13th century. The spire twisted as it was built of green wood and thirty two tons of lead tiles placed on top!

The town dates back to Roman times, originally a Roman fort. It grew into a town in the 12th century with a market that we still have today. The Tudor building in the bottom right picture above is one of the oldest inns in England, and still sells a good pint of beer today. It was a rest house for 'The Knights Templar' in the years of 'The Holy Crusades.'

The quaint, little chapel sits quietly in a little courtyard where it can be easily missed. In fact, I have lived here all my life and have never been to look at it! It was built in 1694 and is one of the oldest surviving buildings in town.

The little tearooms you can see are a great place for afternoon tea or a coffee and homemade cake. I'm a regular visitor!

I am so glad we toured around our little town, I have learned so much that I didn't know even though I have lived here all my life. I think it's easy to take places for granted when you live in and around them. I'm going to be looking at our little town in a different way from now on.

Have you ever been a tourist in your town?

Have a great day.
