bringing style into bloom

At the weekend we took a little trip to explore the lovely Weston Park which just happens to be the first park in Sheffield. It wasn't a very warm day so I thought this floral blouse was perfect with its long sleeves.

It was a blouse I had seen in River Island but didn't buy. I didn't mention I had seen it to Steve but he must know me very well as there it was all nicely wrapped up as part of my birthday present.

It has a great versatility to it; perfect for all the seasons. I chose to wear it today with jeans I got for my birthday and my old faithful brogues.

I apologise for the frizzy hair! Damp air never does it much good!

On a lovely day this would be a perfect place to sit and while away an afternoon with a picnic. Even though it was cold, there were lots of people walking round with ice creams like it was the done thing to do.

You can get married in the bandstand and I can definitely see the appeal. It has a real vintage feel and with good weather it would be magical.

The park has been restored beautifully with gorgeous planting, quiet seating areas and a museum to wander around that is very hands on for children. Definitely a place I want to visit again when it is a bit warmer!

Enjoy the rest of your week lovelies.

on trend jogger trousers for this season

Finally, we are seeing some lovely weather. Can I put my winter boots away at last? Doesn't it just make you feel better when the weather is sunny and warm. We took advantage of this glorious day and spent it at a beautiful garden centre with historic gardens in the grounds of Wentworth house.

I am so in love with these jogger trousers right now. Perfect for dressing up or down. When I first saw them in the shops, I loved them but wasn't sure whether they would suit me or not. However, when I tried them on, I was sold.

Today I chose a black, strappy cami top to wear with them and my denim jacket, which gives a casual feel. I finished my outfit off with some black and gold sandals and a black crossover bag.

The great thing about these trousers is how versatile they are. I have dressed them up with gold heels and a coral top to go out at night in too.

This is a garden centre with added extras! A maze, a deer paddock and a bear pit and it's perfect to visit at any time of the year. It is situated next to a beautiful village and country house which we are coming back soon to explore.

The formal Italian garden and its canal pond have been renovated beautifully. There are so many different types of topiary and herbaceous borders to see.

Do you love these trousers as much as me? What other ways would you wear them?

Enjoy the rest of your week lovelies.

my favourite winter colour

Today was a perfect opportunity to wear this coat I picked up in the January sales. A lovely sunny Sunday but with a chilly wind. We wanted to make the most of this glorious day so we had a wander round a beautiful gallery not too far from us.

I have a wardrobe full of maroon; it is my go to colour choice over the winter months. I paired it with a blue lace dress and my comfy and warm maroon boots. Lace dresses are a big favourite of mine, I find them very versatile and perfect for many occasions. If you read my blog you will know I have quite a selection! What other outfits do you think would work with this coat? I would love to hear your ideas.

After a lovely visit to the gallery we were feeling a little peckish and there is only one place I wanted to go and that was Marmadukes. This is one of my favourite little cafes to eat in and I would highly recommend it.

It is so quaint and funky inside and the sandwiches are just heaven! I can't wait to go back and try their eggs benedict. They even have blankets so you can sit outside when it is chilly. I love it!

a valentine's day date outfit

Look no further for that sexy outfit you are looking to wear on Valentine's Day! This outfit is perfect for a romantic date night.

I absolutely love Valentine's Day. I adore the colour it brings after the dreary days we have in January. Red; my favourite!

an outfit for an autumn walk

Isn't Autumn a lovely time of year? The colours everywhere are so beautiful here at the moment. As it was such a lovely morning we decided to take a stroll through the botanical gardens; a pleasant place for a walk and a picnic (when it's not raining of course).

I am in love with Peter Pan collar dresses. I spotted this one and knew straightaway I had to have it. Do you ever get that feeling when you see something you like, you just know it will look fine! Well, that's how I felt about this dress! I have another dress very similar to this which you can see here.

I have been waiting all summer to wear this chunky cardigan. I bought it in the sale earlier in the year to wear on days like this, cold but bright.

I also have an obsession with brogues, I love them. When I see them in a shop I stop a while and have a little drool! I am trying to collect a pair in every colour!

The beautiful restored Victorian glasshouses you can see in the background houses plant collections from different regions around the world and is so worth a visit. We were lucky enough to see a wedding taking place here a few weeks ago. It was beautiful.

A view looking down towards the fountain from outside the glasshouse. We had a lovely chat with an older couple while we were stood here as he was asking us what we were photographing. He showed us a lovely picture he had painted and obviously took real joy from it. That's the kind of place it is here, friendly, pleasant and easygoing.

We finished the day off with a Starbucks festive gingerbread latte and a cranberry and orange muffin. Buy one, get one free too! It won't be long before I'm back!

what to wear for bonfire night

Do you like my outfit for Bonfire night? I'm a big lover of burgundy and green, can you tell? This would be my perfect outfit for chilly evenings standing around outside.

Everyone needs one of these chunky knit sweaters, I think they look best with skinny jeans and boots. What would you wear with a chunky sweater?

I get very excited watching fireworks, hopefully I will get some good photos of them to share with you. Of course, I will have to eat some bonfire food! I'm thinking jacket potatoes, bonfire toffee and hot chocolate! What do you think?

Have a lovely day.

what I wore to a cocktail party

River Island came to my rescue last week when I was looking for an outfit for my daughter's 21st birthday cocktail party. I fell in love with this cream blouse with the gold tone metal plate detail. It has padded cap sleeves and a zip back fastening; very different to what I would normally buy.

Unfortunately you can't see the patent and mock croc panels of the skirt as these were very quick grab shots. The light was fading fast and I wanted to get some photos to show you this outfit. I love pencil skirts, they are just so feminine.

These shoes are my favourite pair! My daughters bought me these beauties for my birthday last year and I love them. The gold heels go perfectly with the detail in the blouse.

I treated myself to this bag and gold cuff to finish the outfit off and a new manicure to go with it.

Have a lovely day everyone.

what i wore for our engagement dinner

I wore this lovely thigh high split dress to our engagement meal. I had my eye on this dress for quite a while in the shop but I didn't buy it as I had just bought one in the same style. So what a fantastic surprise I had when I saw it in the sale at half price. I automatically presumed there wouldn't be one in my size so I nearly punched the air in delight when they had!

It is a lovely, fitting dress that feels so comfortable to wear. I paired it with heels and a bag I already had. A bonus that I had items in my wardrobe to go with it!

As we have just got engaged, I couldn't resist a photo showing my ring off!

We had a great family night in a little Mexican restaurant which serves the best Mexican food around. It's also good for cocktails which were the best! A perfect meal for a perfect engagement!

It's Monday so it's back to Blogtember again. The prompt today is take this short personality test and respond to the test. The results were very interesting and did make me laugh. I did recognise some of the personality traits of an ISFJ in myself.

Apparently I like to be methodical and do a good job; I've always known I was a bit OCD! It also says I work well in small groups and that my personality type often teach! That would be right then as I'm a teaching assistant!

It was bang on the money when it said I liked to make the most of family celebrations. I love preparing for a party!

Have a lovely Monday
